The Milky Way
In early June, during the period of a new moon, I took advantage of the dark sky to venture to Haytor in order to photograph the Milky Way.
Unfortunately, the lights of Plymouth could be seen. The next night I waited until the street lights went out in Abbotts Park and took this image 20' outside my front door.
I was fast asleep in my bed shortly after this photo was taken!
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first Moon landing
The photo was taken in Wales
A couple of nights later there was a partial lunar eclipse
Dartmoor Zoo
The club is planning a visit to the Zoo on the 1st October and hopefully we will have many more photos like the one opposite of the Tiger roaring (well in actual fact the Tiger was yawning !).
The Beast from the East
One of the helpers attempting to clear the road?
The Beast from the East
We ventured out into our back garden and then up Abbotts Park to the Church.
These are a few photograph taken before we became too cold.
The power was off and it was someone's idea of how to keep warm!
The Beast from the East
The snow drifting across the road making it very difficult for cars but OK on foot.
The Beast from the East
This car doesn't seem too happy about being left out in the cold!

As we ventured onwards we found this hedge also covered in ice.

I think you will need the snowplough attachment for your car if you want to drive up the back lane to Cornwood!

We looked around the area from St.Michael and All Angels Church in Cornwood on the 2nd March 2018. It was now time to return home to a hot cup of tea.

Sony HX90V
In the Cornwood Magazine I mentioned a new little camera that I have recently purchased.
It's a small point and shoot camera that really acts like a bazooka !
This is the image from our lounge through the window with the lens set at 24mm
Sony HX90V
This is taken from the same location but with the zoom at maximum - 720mm!
The image is basically straight out of the camera and the only adjustment has been to reduce the image size to 1024 x 768 pixels for this website.
I am really impressed with this powerful camera that packs a lot of punch!
Dick Whittington 2015
In total we have 141 final photographs taken at the Dress rehearsal on Saturday 28th November.
We did find that we had to be very careful when removing very hot batteries from a flash gun after taking several hundred images.
Ouch!

Blood Moon
Between 2.30am and 3.30am on the 28th September 2015, I stood on our front steps, in Cornwood, trying to get the right camera setting and at the same time taking in the amazing sight as the moon colour changed on entering the shadow of the Earth.
Blood Moon
This is the photo taken by my Brother Keith, who persuaded me to get up in the early hours to photograph this event.
I am glad to see that he also did the same.

The start of the solar eclipse over Cornwood on Friday 20th March 2015 - (9am to 9.45am)
From Lee Moor looking out over the Cornwood area it was very hazy and cloudy as the Moon started its journey across the early morning Sun.
When I took this photo I was hoping the sky would clear but as it did it created other problems, as the following images will show
The climax of the solar eclipse over Cornwood on Friday 20th March 2015 - (9.25am)
As the eclipse reached its peak viewing time and the cloud started to thin in places, I started to experience reflections in the camera filters.
However, the smiley Sun and the miserable reflections turned out OK
The climax of the solar eclipse over Cornwood on Friday 20th March 2015 - (9.25am)
Multiple reflections surround the Sun together with various colours accentuated by using a small aperture and multiple filters on the camera.
Hope you enjoyed these images.

We had a great day in the Gardens that we managed to visit. Unfortunately, a decision to walk to Tor from Cornwood took longer than we anticipated and we ran out of time to visit everyone.
Well done to all that took part.
The Golden Jubilee of John Perry becoming a Priest
The evening of the 29th May 2014 saw the gathering of the family and friends of John to celebrate this special occasion at The Church of St. Michael & All Saints, Cornwood.

'Allo Allo' in the Village Hall
A montage of photographs taken on Saturday 22nd March 2014 at 7.30 pm, when the Village Hall became Rene's Cafe for the evening and some of us went slightly mad!
We had a 'god nit' said Officer Crabtree after the show.
ps. Can you see if Rene has hidden the 'Fallen Modonna with the big boobies' somewhere in the photo?
Cornwood Square Xmas Tree
Saturday 7th December the people of Cornwood and surrounding villages garthered in the Cornwood Square for the Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and Clotted Cream, Christmas Carols and the grand switch on of the Christmas Tree lights.
This year the honor was given to Marilyn Sharpe to press the big button!

and finally to the young lady that really enjoyed the W.I. chocolate cake
